Here we have a very basic float rig which can be used to catch carp but you can also use it to catch many other species.
Float fishing is a truly great way to fish. There is nothing like watching a float for ages and then seeing it dip beneath the surface, its so exciting.
Baits can really be anything you choose.
You could use a hair rig to aid hooking or just fix the bait to the hook, the choice is yours.
This will also depend on how soft the bait is because you don't want to have to strike the hook from a hard bait such as a boilie, in this case hair rigging is much better. Bites will be either the float just sliding under or lifting up and laying on the surface.
The weight needs to be heavier than the float and rests on the bottom this can be a lead free shot or one of the new pin down weights available from Fox or Solar tackle.
