World record carp The Scar caught at 99lb
The captor - British angler Ambrose Smith
The lake - Luke Moffats - Graviers fishery, near Dijon, in France.
The 40-year-old, from Denham in Buckinghamshire, said
"I had a 58-pounder on the Sunday morning, and then was having dinner in my swim with the family that evening when I received the bite from the big one.
The fish put up an absolutely terrific fight for half an hour, during which my daughter joked that it could be ‘The Scar’.
Unbelievably she was right and the mirror carp has set the new carp world record.
