How to cook and prepare tigernuts, hemp other particles.

The tigernut in its raw state is far too hard to use as bait. Tiger nuts have excellent nutritional qualities with a fat composition similar to olives and a rich mineral content, especially phosphorus and potassium. They need to be prepared properly when used as carp bait. If the nuts are not cooked and soaked in water they may swell up in a carps stomach causing possible death.

Tigernuts if prepared properly are a super effective bait. Never use large quantities because this too can cause complications. They are best used over hemp with just a could of handfuls over the top.

How to prepare tigernuts for Carp Fishing

Intensely boil for 2 hours
Leave to soak in the juices for 48+ hours in a tightly sealed container
adding your own sweeteners etc...

Use sparingly, with these nuts its more quality not quantity

How to cook and prepare Hemp and Partiblend

Unlike tiger nuts and other nut varieties hempseed and most seed baits do not need the soaking period but soaking does add to their attraction. This is our method which is, in our opinion the best way to prepare hemp and partiblend.

Particles, once cooked and allowed to cool can be frozen for long periods. Many believe that freezing reduces the attraction, we do not having noticed no difference in catch rates when compared to using un-frozen baits.

Hemp is originally the seed of the cannabis plant. Hemp contains all the essential amino acids and essential fatty acids necessary to maintain healthy human life. No other single plant source has the essential amino acids in such an easily digestible form.

You cannot however use them for recreational purposes as all hemp seed sold in the UK is heat treated which removes the possibility of us smoking it! Hemp is also used to this day to make yarn which can then be used to make various garments. The small size of the seed means that the carp have to work hard for their dinner and often you can create a feeding frenzy especially if more than one fish is present. Ultimately, this is the feeding situation that we should all strive to achieve because a pre-occupied carp is far easier to catch than a carp who is feeding cautiously. Years ago the seed was only ever used as an attractor over which you fished. These days however we now have more options available to us with the introduction of plastic baits including fake hemp.

It is now possible to build rigs which use hemp (or more accurately plastic hemp) as the hookbait. Hemp introduction should be carefully monitored, large quantities can have a negative effect on your fishing as the carp become so pre-occupied to the exclusion of everything else. Its a fine balancing act and one you will learn to judge through experience. A couple of pound of hemp can keep fish returning to the area for days.

If you prefer to buy the hemp already prepared for you, the Dynamite Baits Frenzied Hemp is perhaps the best on the market. They produce standard, chili and a garlic flavored hempseed as well as tigernuts and other particles.
