Tackle requirements largely depend on your intended quarry. If we assume you are trying to catch Carp then I can suggest some requirements which can of course be scaled down if its other fish that you are your after.
A nice aspect of stalking is that you no longer require bedchairs, bivvies or many of the other trappings which come with the modern carp fishing scene.
Some essentials...
Polaroid Sunglasses, are an absolute must have item. They remove the glare from the water surface enabling you to spot the shapes and shadows of fish through the water. A good tactic is to find a few marginal spots which look promising and where you can see the bottom, although this is not absolutely necessary because if fish are on the spot you will often see bubbles, swirls and tail tail signs. Walk around the lake introducing some bait on a few likely looking spots and keep visiting the them until you see a sign of fish feeding. When you find fish on one of the spots, gently drop your rig in. This type of fishing is so exciting and easily worth the effort it takes to get some response from the fish.
You will find that the more stalking you do the more your senses will become tuned in to the environment. You will begin to notice things you would never have seen sat in a bivvy.
