The yellow peril, sweetcorn has and always will be one of the best all round angling baits. It has the habit of producing the bigger quality fish.
Sweet corn will often produce the bigger roach or rudd from a shoal of mainly small fish.

In carp fishing it will often out fish other baits whether used as hookbait or loose feed. In the winter it can bring a carp when all other baits fail. The best canned variety to use is without - Jolly Green Giant. The liquid which surround the grains is a sweet one and carp definitely show a preference for it.
Sweetcorn can be fished on the hook or attached to a hair rig. This largely depends on the fish your after, if its roach or chub etc then attaching the grain by nipping the hook point through the grain is the best option.
If its carp, tench or barbel your after then sliding the grains onto a hair rig will be best. Carp simply love it and the fact that it is so bright only adds to the attraction. You can buy sweetcorn specifically made for angling in different colours, this means that you can experiment although we have found that the standard golden yellow has always worked well as it is.
